
SORBA is calling all mountain bikers to volunteer to attend the second trail work day slated for February 7, 2009.
Because the park is not open to the general public all volunteers must arrive slightly before 9 am, as county staff will have to unlock the gate and let us in, before re-locking the gate. County staff will come back at 2 pm to unlock the gate and let everyone back out. Don't worry about lunch as SORBA-Chattanooga will be providing lunch to all volunteers.
No prior trail experience is necessary.
Volunteers should bring gloves and something to drink while working. While SORBA-Chattanooga has a tools for volunteers to use, if you have a set of loppers or pruning shears, please feel free to bring them.
Here are directions. Head North on Hwy 58 1/2 mile past the Fire Dept. You'll see a SMALL brown sign for the UTC field classroom. We'll work from 9:00-2:00. It is imperative the everyone is there ON TIME. We are let in the gate as a group and locked in until 2:00. Can't stress this enough! There's no free access. We'll have lunch provided. We will have a lot of tools on hand, but request members to bring loppers if they have a pair. See forum post for entrance to Enterprise South Park

February 14th

SORBA-Chattanooga will be leading a group ride at Booker T. Washington State Park. The ride will start at 9: 30 am. Meet in the upper parking lot by the pool. We will complete multiple loops. The trail work day set for February 21, 2009 has been canceled due to the weather forecast, which is calling for rain. However, we will be hosting another trial work day the next day, February 22, 2009 from 1 pm to 5 pm. Please join us.

February 22nd

The Up, Around and Down Ride @ Raccoon Mountain. This monthly ride, taking place the last Sunday of each month, will have two options. Option #1: Riders will meet ride leader Erik Rippon in the boat ramp parking lot at the base of Raccoon Mountain. Riders will start, PROMPTLY, at 9:30 am climbing the road to the top of Raccoon Mountain where they will ride the trail on top of the mountain before blasting back down the mountain to conclude their ride. Option #2: Riders not wishing to ride up the mountain can meet in the parking lot at the top of the mountain at about 9:45 am, in the East Brow Parking lot. The riders who climb the mountain will stop by the East Brow parking lot to collect any Option #2 riders, and ride around the top of the mountain. February 26th

The Telluride MountainFilm is coming to Chattanooga, TN on Thursday, February 26, 2009. It will be shown at The Chattanooga Theatre Centre in beautiful Coolidge Park. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for the sponsors expo, with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. The show will consist of seven to eleven films that were featured at the Telluride Film Festival. Tickets are $10.00 at the door and all proceeds from ticket sales go to the Southeastern Climbers Coalition, Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association, and Appalachian Voices (Voices Against Mountain Top Removal).
