The Diamondback Time Trail Raccoon Mountain Race Series concluded last night following a final night of competition. When all the dust settled the winners for each class were:

SORBA-Chattanooga’s second Diamondback Raccoon Mountain Bike Time Trial was a well attended event with 22 racers competing. This was the second of the three part series. Following the race participants had a chance to cool down with some fresh cut watermelon and pineapple. If you haven’t had a chance to race, come out next week for the final event in the series.

SORBA-Chattanooga’s first Diamondback Raccoon Mountain Bike Time Trial was a well attended event with 24 racers competing, despite near 100 degree temperatures. This was the first of the three part series. Because only the two best nights results count towards the series winner, you still have a chance to win if you missed the first race.

Trail volunteers gather for a picture prior to heading out to work.
Several mountain bike organizations in the region traveled to Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area to celebrate Nationals Trails Day. On hand were mountain bikers from many Tennessee Mountain Biking Alliance organizations, including Big South Fork Mountain Bike Club, Applachian Mountain Bike Club, Northeast Tennessee Mountain Bike Association and our very own SORBA-Chattanooga. Nearly a hundred people converged on Enterprise South Nature Park for the National Trails Day event on Saturday June 5. Participants were able to choose from a mountain bike ride, road ride or nature trail hike. Over 25 people joined SORBA for the inaugural ride of the first 4.5 mile loop at “The Ammo Dump”. SORBA-Chattanooga’s May 22nd group ride provided an opportunity for riders to enjoy the trails on Chilhowee Mountain.
About half of the riders in attendance were new SORBA members. (If you are a new member or someone interested in joining all you have to do is show up to a SORBA event an introduce yourself.) After names were exchanged, everyone headed out to explore the trails.

The bicycle photo scavenger hunt and cookout that took place on May 15 was pure fun. SORBA-Chattanooga members and their guest started showing up at the start/finish location about 15 minutes before the start of the event. SORBA-Chattanooga’s final Thursday Night Time Trial at Booker T. Washington State Park. The series was well attended with over 41 different people participating in at least in one race.
