Volunteers Tackle Berms at Booker T.

The Booker T. Washington State Park Trail Work Day held on August 15, 2009 was a huge success.
The small crew of four volunteers were joined by Ranger Stacy.  While trail volunteers cut back a few stray patches of overgrowth, their main focus was rebuilding a berm that had worn down over the past couple of years.

Raccoon Mountain Volunteer Trail Day

The July 18, 2009 trail day was a huge success.  Trail volunteers were able to cut back the overgrowth from trail as it passes under the visitor center on Mega-Watt trail, as it passes under the power lines on the Electric Avenue trail, and as the trail trail passes behind the switch yard on the Switch Yard Connector trail.  Additional trail work work was done reestablishing drainage points along the Laurel Point Trail.

Booker T. Washington State Park Trail Day Success

The Booker T. Washington State Park Trail Work Day held on May 30, 2009 was a huge success.
Our trail volunteers were joined by Park Ranger Stacy. We were able to tackle a large number of trail issues including, cutting back overgrowth, installing culverts in muddy areas, hardening the trail with some stones in low lying areas and constructing a new boardwalk/bridge that spans a seasonal drainage.

Volunteers turned out in force for the first Enterprise South Nature Park trail day. Twenty-five volunteers braved below freezing weather (13 degrees F) to help clear the trail corridor so earth work can begin. The twenty-five volunteers cleared over a mile of trail corridor, each putting in 5 hours of work, each, at no cost to the city or county, but with a value of $2500.
