Night-Rides

SORBA-Chattanooga reached an agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to host weekly night rides on Raccoon Mountain.

“SORBA-Chattanooga’s has always maintained a positive relationship with TVA, and they view mountain bikers as a responsible user group,” according to Jeffrey S. Schaarschmidt, SORBA-Chattanooga’s president.  “This was key in obtaining approval to host Thursday night rides at the facility.”

The rides will take place every Thursday night throughout the winter, weather permitting.  The ride will depart from the East Brow Parking lot at 6 pm.  All riders are required to wear a helmet and have either a bike or helmet light.

Does this allow others riders to ride on other nights other than thursday? Is there an eta. on when the trail guide will be working again??

Zack, at the present time riders can ride any night of the week. TVA has not set a time when mountain bikers are required to be off the mountain, but I suggest that we not abuse this privilege and make all attempts to be off the mountain by 9 pm.

As far as the trail guide. I don’t have an eta on when it will be working again. We are still attempting to figure out what went wrong. If you know of any mountain bikers who have database skills, and would like to volunteer some time to a great nonprofit, please put them in contact with me.
