Stringer's-Ridge

Rick Wood, director of the Chattanooga office of the Trust for Public Land announced that Stringer’s Ridge has been saved from future development with the donation of a conservation easement by the current property owner. The historic land, which also helps give Chattanooga it’s natural and ridge-lined frame, can never be developed, according to the terms of the easement.

SORBA-Chattanooga has partnered with the Trust for Public Land and other outdoor organizations to help bring awareness to the goal of preserving the historic ridge.   SORBA-Chattanooga headed up two clean up days on the property, removing tons of dumped trash and hundreds of dumped tires.

The Trust for Public Land has already had several meetings with SORBA-Chattanooga in which we discussed creating a trail plan for the property.  There are several miles existing trails and old road beds.  These are in various conditions with some suffering from erosion.  SORBA-Chattanooga next step will be to survey all of the current trails  to determine which will rehabilitation work and where we might layout and construct additional trails on the property for mountain bike and foot traffic.
